Coney Island Strategic Plan & city's rezoning plan
What is the difference between CIDC’s Strategic Plan and the City’s Development and Rezoning Plan?
The Coney Island Strategic Plan was released in September 2005 by CIDC. The result of a two-year community planning effort managed by CIDC, the Strategic Plan articulated general development goals and a conceptual framework for neighborhood revitalization efforts. Building upon these planning efforts, the City announced the Comprehensive Development and Rezoning Plan in November 2007. This plan facilitates the implementation of many of the projects outlined in the Strategic Plan and serves as the framework for future development.
What role does CIDC have in implementing the Strategic Plan?
CIDC is working in conjunction with city agencies and local stakeholders to implement the projects outlined in the Strategic Plan.
How does CIDC the City’s plan differ from previous plans?
Many alternative visions have been presented for Coney Island over its history. CIDC’s plans for Coney Island address the issue of neighborhood development and area revitalization in an integrated plan and make use of policy tools that will ensure the effective implementation and sustainability of the proposed development.
