The West 8th Street Access Project will enhance the physical and visual connection between the West 8th Street Station, the WCS New York Aquarium, the beach and boardwalk, and improve the pedestrian experience and access throughout the amusement area.  The first phase of the project will remove the deteriorating pedestrian bridge and causeway at West 8th Street and Surf Avenue and replace it with intersection improvements which will make crossing Surf Avenue safer for pedestrians.

The project also includes the construction of new arrival areas at West 8th Street and Surf Avenue and at West 10th Street and the Boardwalk which will feature new ADA access to the Boardwalk, seating, plantings, directional signage, and lighting.
