An exciting component of the new Coney Island will be the intricately designed open space at Steeplechase Plaza. Located on the historic site of George Tilyou’s Steeplechase Park between Keyspan Stadium and the Boardwalk, this outdoor oceanfront plaza is envisioned as a site for public performances and art, a water feature and retail space. It will also serve as the future home to the Carousel pavilion.

Design is currently underway for this gem on the Boardwalk. A design team lead by EDAW, Inc. and the Rockwell Group has been engaged and is working in collaboration with NYCEDC, the Parks Department, CIDC and local stakeholders.
